Welcome to
Meet Emma
Hi, I’m Emma and I offer face to face counselling in a welcoming, calm and comfortable private space in Wilmslow.
Counselling provides a safe and confidential space in which to explore your feelings. Talking to a qualified therapist in a confidential setting, with no judgement and being respectfully listened to can help us to understand what is making us feel a certain way.
These feelings can affect our relationships with others, or our personal life. Feelings such as anger, grief, anxiety, or loneliness can be distressing. Counselling can help explore and reflect upon these feelings. It can help to understand what is at the root of the concern and help work towards resolving them.
Counselling is not advice, it is a process where the counsellor can help you to explore and understand these thoughts and feelings, and then help to develop you to cope with them.
How counselling helps…
Get to know yourself better
Counselling can help you to understand yourself better. During the process of therapy, you begin to better understand who you really are, what you value, why you have certain habits, and how you can best implement change. When we understand ourselves better, we become more able to manage our mental health. It is very likely that you will find yourself saying and feeling things in the therapy room that you can’t believe you’ve not realised before. It’s like therapy creates a safe space to finally be yourself and discover new things about you so that you can make decisions that are right for you. When you know yourself and spend time truly understanding who you are and what is most important to you, it is easier to care for others.
Learn coping skills for life
Counselling can help you to improve the way you manage your mental health through learning new ways to cope. These coping skills to boost your self-esteem and ability to rely on yourself in the long term.
A safe and confidential space
Counselling offers something unique: a safe, confidential space for you to be the real you. In day to day life we may have to show up as a number of different versions of ourself, following the rules and the expectations of others. Here there are no expectations! Instead there is full acceptance of you and your story. A space to explore what is going on, and what has happened in the past (or not).
Friends are wonderful, but a counsellor offers something different
Counselling is different from friendship in that friendship (at least a healthy friendship) is a two-way street, give and take. The counselling space is just for you. In difficult times it’s common to feel like you may be overwhelming your support system and need more time and space to process what’s happening to you. Counselling is the place to do that. Sometimes a whole family or support system may go through a crisis together thereby being limited in being able to offer support to one another; this is another situation where counselling can be helpful. You never have to worry about taking care of your counsellor or overwhelming them with your problems, their job in that hour is to create a safe place just for you.
Find inner resources you didn’t know you had
Therapy isn’t about sitting around complaining and blaming others. It’s about discovering your inner power to see different perspectives and make different choices. With awareness, you can learn what steps are needed to take action and regain control over your behaviours in order to move towards positive change.
Understand others and improve relationships.
Counselling can be a valuable tool for improving relationships, whether it’s with a partner, family members, or friends. By providing a safe and supportive space to explore your thoughts and feelings, counselling can help you develop healthier communication skills, resolve conflicts more effectively, and strengthen your bonds with loved ones.

Children and
young people
Working with young people is something that feel passionately about. I worked in education for 15 years and have three children of my own. The world we live in can be a confusing and unsettling place for young people. They need to feel validated and heard, and sometimes this might mean that they need extra support for their emotional wellbeing. When working with young people I also offer creative approaches.
